 Online Application Procedure:

  2. Click on the Homepage Buy Prospectus Online

  3. Fill in all your Personal and Postal Address Details for getting Prospectus Form and Submit by paying Rs.1,000/- through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net banking.

  4. After successful payment, Prospectus along with the Application Form will be delivered to your Postal Address within 3-4 days by Speed Post 



For Prospectus & Application you can also send a non-refundable Demand Draft in Indian Rupees of amount Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) from a Nationalized Bank in favor of Aarna Institute of Maritime Studies payable at Mumbai.


Along with D.D. of Rs.1000/- please do mention the following details:

  • Training Programme code (Marine Engineering – Code: MET)

  • Your name & current address on the reverse side of the D.D.

  • Your Academic details

  • Correspondence address for receiving the Prospectus & Application Form.

  • Name of the school you have studied or presently studying. 

Documents are required for to be sent with Application Form:

The candidates should send the Xerox copies of the following documents (whichever is applicable) while submitting along with their Application form to the Institute for Admission.

  • 10th Class Mark sheet Photocopy.

  • 10th Class Board Certificate Photocopy.

  • 12th Class Mark sheet Photocopy.

  • 12th Class Board Certificate Photocopy.

  • Any other Qualification Certificate/ Mark sheet Photocopy (Diploma in Engg. / B.Sc with PCM)

  • Recent Passport size Photograph 6 Nos.

  • Applicable documents to Claim the Reservation of Seats Photocopy.

  • (Defense personnel, sports persons , NCC cadets (School or College Level) , Jammu and Kashmir migrants , sponsorship from shipping companies, Ward of Seafarer), if applicable)

Note: At the time of admission the candidate has to produce the above mentioned documents in originals, if the candidate is not able to produce originals, then he can produce Notarized copy of this certificate with undertaking to submit Original Certificates within one month of Admission.

Entry Requirements:

To apply for this course, you should meet the following entry requirements.

Age Limit:Preferably 17 to 22 years at the time of entry.


A pass in 10+2 with PCM(12th Standard) or its equivalent preferably with minimum 50% that includes aggregate in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) group in
Class XII, & preferably at least 50% in English.
Diploma in Engineering (AICTE Approved)
B.Sc with PCM Subject Group


Medical Standard:

Should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eye sight up to 6/12 in both eyes or 6/9 in better eye, 6/18 in other eye (i.e. ± 2.5) and with no color blindness.

Mode of Selection for the Course:

We are looking for young talent blended with qualities like leadership, innovative, courageous and who desire to undertake challenging jobs and wishing to make a career in Merchant Navy.

  • On receipt of application form, it will be scrutinized for necessary qualification only eligible candidates shall be called for:

  • Written Test

  • Oral Test

  • Physical and Medical Test


Type of Question : Objective only
Durations : 1 Hour
Maximum Marks : 100
For written Test question will be based on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics syllabus of 10+2 Examination.


Question will be based on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics syllabus of 10+2 Examination, General Knowledge of shipping, General Analytical and Logical reasoning and aptitude.


The candidate should be physically and medically Fit and the candidate will undergo physical fitness test from DGS approved Doctor (Medical Examination for Seafarers 2000) prior to joining the course.

  • After qualifying these tests, candidates will be tested on the basis of their Attitude and Aptitude towards seafaring Profession, ability to communicate in English, General Comprehension and Seafaring background (if any).

  • The merit list and the Final Selection will be done based on marks in the above tests along with marks obtained 10+2.

  • The younger candidate will be preferred over the elder one in case of equal marks in merit list.

  • After successful qualifying these tests, the candidates will be offered seats.

  • The Call letters would be sent to these candidates for final admission.

  • The AIMS institute reserves the right to select or reject any candidate.

  • The selection committee is not bound to call all the applicants for the admission process or Interview.

  • Selected candidates should take the admission by paying course fess. If the candidates fail to pay fees in time, then the seat would be offered to next waitlisted candidate.
